Naidu seeks CBI probe into attack on Reliance stores

HYDERABAD: Alleging a conspiracy of creating instability in the State behind the deliberate violent attack on Reliance stores after sending SMS and telecasting on TV channels, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday demanded a CBI inquiry into it.
Addressing a media conference here on Friday, Mr. Naidu said the CBI which is already investigating into the death of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the helicopter crash should be asked to probe into the series of attacks on Reliance by Dr. Reddy’s fans and followers of his son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
He said the SMS sent at random to people at 4.55 p.m on Thursday saying “Y.S. Yuvasena calls for AP Bandh on January 9, if u love YSR really send this SMS to all YSR fans”, was mischievous and meant to forewarn people of the unfolding situation in the State. Soon after the message three TV channels telecast baseless news of an industrial group behind Dr. Reddy’s death picking it up from a Russian newspaper website.
The intention of creating trouble and law and order problem by provoking a section of people and anti-social elements was clear, Mr. Naidu said. It could be for unseating Chief Minister K. Rosaiah or show him in poor light or create unstable situation to scare away investors. The TDP president said he had no doubt that this was done by a section of Congressmen . Asked if he suspected the hand of Mr. Jagan, he said only a detailed police inquiry would reveal who was behind these attacks, sending of SMS and telecast of false news on TV.

3 Idiots remake in Telugu with Mahesh Babu

Aamir Khan’s latest super duper blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’ will soon be remake in Telugu and Tamil. The remake rights were acquired by Gemini Films Circuit which had previously produced Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai. Gemini Films Circuit had acquired it for a whopping sum of Rs.10 crores.

Another latest buzz is that Gemini Films Circuit is planning to approach either Mahesh Babu or Pawan Kalyan to play the lead role in the remake of 3 Idiots film in Telugu. But more details yet to known.

Ram Charan was recommended to Farhan by Abhishek Kapoor, who had shot a commercial with him. A source says Farhan saw the actor’s latest Telugu blockbuster Magadheera and was left speechless. “He loved the film andRam Charan’s performance. Farhan feels Ram Charan has all the qualities of an action hero. He got in touch with him and has now signed him with his production house Excel Entertainment. A script titled Haafiz was narrated to Ram Charan.”
The film will be majorly shot in Mumbai. It’s the story of two friends – the other character is yet to be cast. The movie is expected to go on the floors in April and the release is scheduled around December. “If all goes well, Chiranjeevi might play the girl’s father,” adds ours source, While the script is still being fine tuned, the plot is basically rich girlmeets-poor boy plot with a lot of action sequences. “Deepika Padukone and Kangna are the two options being considered opposite Ram Charan. The film will be made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi,” says the source.

Ram Charan, who is currently abroad on a holiday, could not be contacted for a comment. However Farhan Akhtar said, “It would be a pleasure to work withRam Charan. But the news that we have collaborated on a film is untrue.

Is Rajkumar Hirani’s, Aamir Khan- Madhavan- Sharman Joshi- Kareena Kapoor mega hit 3 Idiots going to be remade in Tamil and Telugu?

The grapevine is abuzz that Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) is in advanced state of negotiations to buy the rights at a new record price for a remake.

Remember that GFC had a few years back remade Munnabhai MBBS into Kamal Hassan’s Vasool Raja MBBS in Tamil and in Telugu as Chiranjeevi’s Shankar Dada MBBS after buying remake rights from the same 3 Idiots producers Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani?

Says Mano Akkineni, of GFC: “Yes we are negotiating with Vinod and Raju for the remake rights of 3 Idiots. But nothing has been firmed up including the star cast.” Most of Kollywoods leading men like Suriya, Vikram, and Vijay has seen the film and have appreciated it. Madhavan who played an important role in the original has said that he is willing to do the same role in Tamil.

However the big stars in Kollywood are unlikely to do 3 Idiots in Tamil, as it is basically a multi starrer, with Madhavan and Sharman Joshi having equal footing. Another reason is that only mass action movies (Sivaji, Dasavatharam etc) turn hits in south and films based on human relationships do only business in multiplexes. Tamil films and its heroes cater to mass masala audiences in B & C towns.

What does the mysterious helicopter crash that killed one of India’s most popular politicians have to do with White House economic czar Larry Summers? Read on…

First, the crash: one of India’s most popular politicians, who heads the state of Andhra Pradesh, just died in a mysterious helicopter crash. What’s eerie is that the dead politician recently went public attacking India’s most powerful oligarch family, the Ambanis, threatening to take away their giant offshore gas concessions. Meanwhile the Ambani brothers, Mukesh (the world’s 7th richest man) and Anil (the world’s 34 richest) are battling each other in a blood feud that’s taking the whole country down with them–that’s not a hornet’s nest you’d want to stick your fingers into, even if you’re the governor of a huge Indian province. The Ambani brothers’ feud peaked in May when Anil’s helicopter was found to have been sabotaged just before takeoff (read about it here). Anil strongly hinted he suspected Mukesh, but no one will ever know who did it, because the mechanic who discovered the dirt and gravel in Anil Ambani’s helicopter gear box was hit by a train two days later in what was initially ruled as a “suicide,” but which later was ruled murder.

So why would an Ambani have anything to do with the mysterious helicopter crash of Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister Y.S. RajasekharaReddy? Just speculatin’ on a hypothesis, as the police chief says inMiller’s Crossing, and here’s why:

Just over a month ago, as the Ambani brothers’ insane internecine war over offshore gas deposits dragged on with no end in sight, Reddy publicly demanded that his state, Andhra Pradesh, take a share of the gas deposits for itself:

Even as the two Ambani brothers are locked in a legal battle over supply and price of gas from the Krishna-Godavari basin, the AndhraPradesh government has sought its “due share” of the hydrocarbon asset.

He even attacked the brothers’ mother, who brokered the deal dividing up India’s gas between her feuding sons:

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S RajasekharaReddy on Sunday said that the settlement of the gas dispute between the Ambani brothers could not be left to their mother Kokilaben and the Centre must play a decisive role, for which he has written to the Prime Minister.

“The dispute over sharing of gas is not an issue to be settled by (the) mother (Kokilaben). It is for the government to decide who should get the gas and also at what price,”Reddy said on the sidelines of a function here.

Ah, Y.S., you shouldn’ta attacked their mother. Next thing you know…Reddy’s deady.

A number of Reliance Retail outlets in Andhra Pradesh today came under simultaneous mob attack after a news report on some Telugu channels alleged the role of the Ambani brothers in the sudden death of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in a chopper crash last year.

Reliance Retail is a subsidiary of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL).

The incident occurred after 7 pm when a local television channel started airing that a Russian web magazine, The Exiled, had speculated that there could be a conspiracy behind Reddy’s death, as he had stressed that the gas find by RIL in the Krishna-Godavari basin was a national asset and the Ambani brothers, including their mother Kokilaben, had no right to distribute it between them.

As the report was immediately picked up by other television channels, people fanned out across the state and vented their anger on the Reliance Retail outlets. Congress activists have also called for a bandh in several parts of the state on Friday.

The government had asked the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) to probe the circumstances leading to the death of Reddy. The CBI is yet to conclude its investigations.
