Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 10 : Congress MP K Sambasiva Rao today said an efficient leader from Telangana region should be made Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.Talking to newspersons here, Mr Rao, who represented the party in the eight-party meeting of January five convened by the Centre in New Delhi, said the appointment would help in handling effectively the situation arising out of the demand for statehood for Telangana.
''I am not making any new proposal. The convention was followed in the past,'' he added.
Mr Rao, a vociferous supporter of united Andhra Pradesh, claimed that the Telangana region witnessed maximum development and statistics spoke for itself.
The state leaders, including Chief Minister K Rosaiah, should undertake state-wide tours to create awareness among the people on the pros and cons of bifurcation of the state, he said, adding the Centre should finalise parameters for creation of any new state and the same yardstick should be applied in all states in the country for formation of new states.
