TRS denies media reports

Hyderabad, Jan 10 : The Opposition Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) today took a strong objection to reports in a section of the press that its President K Chandrasekar Rao, MP, was likely toget a cabinet seat in the Manmohan Singh government at the Centre.

''The report is an insult to the Telangana movement. We will resort to democratic forms of protest, including staging demonstraton if no rejoinder is published,'' Senior TRS leader and former Andhra Pradesh Minister T Harish Rao told at a press conference here.

''While peacefully continuing our stir for statehood for Telangana, we are awaiting a response from the Centre on specific time schedule for creation of Telangana,'' he said, adding, the Joint Action Committee would decide on its next course of action on January 12.

The party would complain to the Press Council of India against such ''irresponsible reporting,'' he said.

Posts did not matter for the TRS President, who had submitted his resignation from the Lok Sabha directly to the Speaker, he said, recalling the party had been formed by Mr Chandrasekar Rao only after resigning as MLA, the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly and also the TDP Secretary.

The ruling Congress had reportedly considered offering Chandarasekar Rao a berth in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet to placate him and restore peace in the Telangana region.
